Paul Staeger spoke today about landscaping at the Elks lodge.
“We’re looking to start a sub-committee to get more people involved in the decision-making and volunteering around the property. Two more people are needed besides Kenny Muilkens and me, to make this place really shine.”
For example, Paul runs a push mower to clean up the edges of the property, while Kenny uses the zero-turn tractor to cut all the rest. “Kenny’s mower is great, it’s big and fast, but if it hits a rock or other large object on the lawn it could easily be damaged, or someone could get hurt. We need two more volunteers to pitch in with about two-hours per week, to walk the property and help remove rocks, branches and things that the mowers might pick up and throw, or that could damage the mowers themselves.” And there’s always other beautification projects to help out with, such as spreading mulch, weeding the garden beds and planting flowers.
This new sub-committee would be under the Buildings and Grounds committee chaired by David Dante. Call Paul Staeger at the lodge 908-668-9727, or let us know and we’ll help you track him down — [email protected].
